Natalia Rudiak, City of Pittsburgh District 4 Council Woman has been active in addiction crisis we are facing. I have spoke with her several times and believe that she is a woman who wants change and is willing to fight for it. I was honored to see her attend the FedUp Local Rally in Pittsburgh last year as we spoke.
Natalia has put me in contact with Gus, who I worked with to bring a program to Baldwin High School. The two alumni spoke to high school seniors about their experience with addiction and recovery. I have received some wonderful feedback from both students and staff about the discussion. It was real and the alumni shared their very real and open story. It took courage for them to make themselves vulnerable and we all hope that it touched and saved at least one person.
Yesterday, Ashleigh Deemer, who is running for Natalie’s seat on City of Pittsburgh Council release a video for her #IssueMonday series. This video was about the opioid epidemic, which I am now referring to as the addiction epidemic. This health crisis involves so much and is taking so many lives. Ashleigh’s video provides information about her plans if she is elected.
I am honored that Natalia has asked me to take part of SPOAK, South Pittsburgh Opioid Action Coalition.
The City-wide Public Safety Meeting discussing the heroin epidemic will be held Wednesday, April 19th at 630pm at the Jewish Community Center’s Katz Theatre, located at 5738 Darlington Rd, 15217. A light dinner will be served!
